“There are not enough strong opponents” – figure skaters Shegai and Shamshurov about the St. Petersburg championship

Pair skaters Maya Shegai And Igor Shamshurov compared the level of competition at the Russian Championship and the St. Petersburg Championship.

Following the results of the short program at the St. Petersburg Championship, Shegai and Shamshurov took second place with 60.50 points. At the Russian Championship, the couple took tenth place.

— This season is busy for us – we are participating in junior and adult competitions. We try to combine everything and keep up with the rhythm. The load is heavy, but we are already used to it. We change lanes normally, because only the jump and support approach change. In addition, our programs are well organized: the efforts are approximately the same at both the junior and adult levels.

Before this tournament, we were still actively performing in the show, so it was difficult to have time to prepare perfectly. But today everything went well overall. We are pleased! Another unusual thing is that there are not enough strong opponents. There was more energy at the Russian Championship,” the correspondent reports about Shegai and Shamshurov.
