Honored Coach of Russia and General Director of the Moscow Figure Skating Federation Nina Moser said that many adult athletes withdrew from the Russian show jumping championship, realizing that they would not be able to withstand competition with young skaters.
The winners of the Russian Show Jumping Championship, which took place from January 19 to 21 at the CSKA Arena in Moscow, were twelve-year-old Margarita Bazylyuk and fourteen-year-old Arseny Fedotov. Elizaveta Osokina and Artem Gritsaenko won in pairs. In the team tournament, Dmitry Kozlovsky’s team celebrated its success.
— Is it fair to bring adults and children together in the same competitions?
“It’s clear that adult athletes feel very sorry and offended. There is a difference between light and airy, small children. We see how talented our children are growing up. It’s difficult for adults. Many withdrew from the show jumping tournament, realizing they would not win.
But sometimes you have to do these things to cheer yourself up. So that adults understand that we have children growing up who are stepping on their heels. We have an example of how Sotnikova won the national championship at a young age. We have many such examples. Let’s see how our life will evolve, because the age criterion is changing. It is clear that not all these talented and easy-going children will reach the adult level. We hope that some of them will reach the moment when they will participate in major competitions,” Moser reports, according to correspondent.
— This gives an incentive to the athletes. It becomes more interesting to watch children’s competitions. Our children demonstrate a very high level of skating. “They could potentially participate in the 2030 Olympics,” added Anton Abdurakhmanov, president of the Moscow Figure Skating Federation.
