Sachko: Team USA is a serious opponent not only for us, but for any team

Ukraine and the USA will play in the Davis Cup in early February

Leader of the Ukrainian national team and the country’s first racket Vitaly Sachko commented on the upcoming match against the team USA in qualification Davis Cup 2024.

“To be honest, we always have the highest expectations, but our opponent is very difficult and we understand this very well. I hope that the guys and I will be able to show our best tennis. I admit, I am looking forward to this meeting. Representing Ukraine has always been an honor and pride for me throughout my life.”

“Team USA is a very serious opponent, not only for us, but for any team. They have a lot of experienced players who are much higher than us in the rankings. But in tennis, the rating doesn’t play for you on the court, the ball is round and anything can happen.”

“Unfortunately, we cannot play this match at home, but I hope that our people living in Lithuania will be able to come and support us in this difficult match.”

“Personally, I feel good physically, I try to constantly keep in shape by training. We start training with the guys from the national team on Sunday, but everyone is constantly training, so I think they are doing well in this regard too.”

Last September, Ukraine defeated Colombia (3:2) in the First World Group of the Davis Cup and received the right to play in the qualifications for the 2024 final tournament. According to the results of the draw, our national team faced a top-level opponent – the 32-time Davis Cup winner, the US team.

The matches, according to an agreement with the Lithuanian Tennis Union, will take place on February 1 and 2, 2024 on the hard courts of the SEB Arena in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius.

In addition to Sachko, the national team’s entry included Alexey Krutykh, Vladislav Orlov, Vyacheslav Belinsky and Ilya Beloborodko.
