Athletistic/Figure skating. Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev commented on the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to disqualify Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva for four years for violation of anti-doping rules.

“This decision is really extremely strict. I did not imagine that it would be so severe, although, of course, I expected a sanction. Our arguments were not heard and were not taken into account counts. I think a four-year suspension is excessive.” In my opinion, Kamila Valieva and her coaches must now focus on the rest of the work, because this concerns Kamila’s future and her professional career. All is not lost and they still have a chance. However, it is important to know what is happening. “We do not yet have complete information about what really happened. We are just listening to different versions,” Svishchev commented in an interview with RT.

The disqualification of the 17-year-old figure skater began on December 25, 2021.
