Athletistic / Figure skating. The head coach of the Russian synchronized swimming team, Tatiana Pokrovskaya, has responded to the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) finding Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva guilty of violating anti-doping rules. This resulted in her being deprived of her Olympic gold medal in the team competition at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing (China).

“Russia was offended, is offended and continues to be offended. It is good that due to the conditions of disqualification, Kamila can participate in the 2026 Olympics. The main thing is that she must now resist mentally and physically to everything But the big drawback is that, apparently, we are going to win a medal at the team figure skating tournament. It’s sad, it’s a shame, but we are waiting for better times…” – Match TV quotes Pokrovskaya saying.

The day before, on January 29, the CAS found Valieva guilty of violating anti-doping rules and disqualified her for 4 years from the date of the doping test – starting from December 25, 2021. Now the Russian has been deprived of all of his medals since that date, including the 2022 Olympic gold medal in the team figure skating tournament. The CAS decision can be challenged before the Swiss Federal Court within 30 days from the date of announcement of the verdict.
