Athletistic/Figure skating. Figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva expressed her support for Kamila Valieva, who was disqualified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for 4 years for violating anti-doping rules. Medvedeva stressed that this was a sad decision, typical of Russian sport, and expressed her thoughts on this matter.

“Today, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified Kamila Valieva for 4 years, starting from December 25, 2021, and withdrew all the medals won since that same date. A sad decision, but we are already used to it to sadness in Russian sport. “Whatever I think about this, I will tell Kamila personally, but I would like to publicly express some thoughts,” Medvedeva noted.

She shared her memories of Kamila Valieva’s experiences in China during the Olympics and on the way back to Moscow, emphasizing that she saw all her emotions and incomprehension of the situation. Medvedeva expressed doubts about the circumstances surrounding the discovery of trimetazidine in a doping sample.

“I can say with certainty that Kamila Valieva knew nothing about trimetazidine. And I am very sorry that an athlete who made no mistakes is deliberately deprived of medals,” Medvedeva added.
