“The dog barks, but the caravan continues on its way.” Figure skater Gallyamov reacted with a proverb to the deprivation of Olympic gold because of the Valieva affair

World, European and Russian figure skating champion Alexander Galliamov reacted with a proverb to the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) to deprive the Russian team of victory in the team tournament at the Beijing Olympics after the decision on the doping case of a figure skater Kamila Valieva who was part of the team.

On Monday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules (trimetazidine, a banned drug). The disqualification period begins on December 25, 2021. On Tuesday, the ISU announced that all of the athlete’s results since the sample collection date had been canceled. This also led to a review of the results of the 2022 Olympics team tournament, where the Russian team won. First place is now awarded to the American team, the Japanese are second and the Russians will receive bronze.

Gallyamov, who participated in the team tournament with Anastasia Mishina, posted photos on the Telegram channel alluding to the saying “The dog barks, but the caravan moves forward.”

Valieva also lost the title of European champion in 2022, the title went to Anna Shcherbakova.
