Earlier it became known that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified Kamila Valieva for four years due to a violation of anti-doping rules. The figure skater was part of the Russian team that won the team tournament at the Beijing Olympics. Due to the CAS decision, the team was deprived of 20 points and moved to third place.
Peskov emphasized: “Returning from China after the Olympics, we celebrated these athletes as Olympic champions. We are convinced that they will always remain Olympic champions for us. No decision, even unjust, on this issue will change our attitude.”
Peskov also stressed that the prizes awarded to Russian figure skaters awarded as winners will not be revised.
