The Magpies broke a streak of four league defeats in a row

Newcastle confidently beat on the road Aston Villa in the 22nd round English Premier League – 3:1.

The Magpies scored twice within four minutes of each other in the first half. Defender Fabian Scher scored a brace after two corner kicks.

In the second half, Newcastle’s quick counter-attack ended with an own goal from Alex Moreno. Aston Villa pulled one goal back and Ollie Watkins scored. However, Unai Emery’s team failed to save the match.

Newcastle ended a run of four league defeats in a row. The Magpies are in seventh place with 32 points. Aston Villa are in fourth place with 43 points.

In the next match, Newcastle will host Luton, and Birmingham will play away at Sheffield United. Both matches will take place on February 3.
