The Ukrainian noted that he can accept a truly advantageous offer without an “intermediate” fight
Ukrainian middleweight boxer Sergey Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KOs) said that he plans to have one “preparatory” fight, and then look for a fight with a serious opponent.
“For now, my task is to return to full training, get in shape, and “overcome” the defeat. And after that something will become clearer.”
“First, the “intermediate” battle. But there is one point here. If someone offers a really good option, then most likely I will accept it even without an “intermediate fight.” Of course, it all depends on how much time I have to prepare. After we weigh everything, we will make a final decision.”
“And so, I plan to first close the defeat, and only then negotiate on some really big, serious fight.”
“Because in boxing everything changes very quickly. Today you are without an offer. And tomorrow someone is injured, someone is sick, someone doesn’t want to box with someone else. And options begin to appear. A serious and good offer may appear at any moment.”
Derevyanchenko was supposed to fight against American Rowdy Montgomery on January 6. However, the Ukrainian was injured and the fight fell through.
Earlier, Derevyanchenko said that he plans to perform in the professional arena for about two more years. The Ukrainian’s main goal is to win the title.
In his last fight, Derevyanchenko lost to Mexican Jaime Munguia by decision. At the end of 12 rounds, all three referees gave victory to the Mexican boxer – 115:112, 114:113, 114:113.
