Athletistic/Figure skating. Director of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Veronika Loginova said that anyone who participated in or initiated the use of a banned substance by figure skater Kamila Valieva should be punished, including criminally.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled that Valieva will be suspended for four years for anti-doping rule violations, effective December 25, 2021. All of the athlete’s results from this date will be voided. The performance-enhancing drug trimetazidine was detected in his sample on December 25, 2021, and the test results were announced in February 2022 during the Beijing Olympics.

Loginova emphasized that RUSADA conducted an investigation into the athlete’s personnel within the limits of its authority. She also highlighted a lack of coordination and cooperation with law enforcement, making a thorough investigation difficult. Loginova emphasized that if anyone participated in or initiated the use of a substance banned by Valieva, that person should be punished, including criminal liability for involving a minor athlete in anti-doping violations.
