Athletistic/ Figure skating. On Monday January 29, in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) completed its examination of the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. In December 2021, she passed a positive doping test. This was revealed in February 2022 during the Beijing Olympic Games. The court found the athlete guilty of violating anti-doping rules and disqualified her for four years.

Today, Kamila Valieva’s coach Eteri Tutberidze responded to the CAS verdict. His comments were criticized by the wife of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, Yana Rudkovskaya.

– Every line oozes arrogance, every line is literally “I don’t have to explain anything to you, I’m a victim too.”
Seriously, Eteri Georgievna? Who are you the victim of? Another girl, an unhappy child whose career was ruined and her dream taken away? Her parents, who probably sacrificed everything to serve their daughter’s sporting career? Or the whole team, for whom this Olympic team gold medal (which was withdrawn – Kamila’s points were subtracted) is perhaps the first and last of their career?!

Why should we follow you in asking if anyone defended Camila in court? Ask someone other than yourself! You should have protected her! And before the court, and before the world, and before the country, and before himself!

The coach had to take responsibility for it. And from a professional point of view, and from a conceptual point of view, and from a human point of view. And do not subtly, through the lines, blame the girl in whose life a tragedy happened, and yes, this is exactly a tragedy, the age of figure skaters is much shorter than the age of mentors,” Rudkovskaya wrote in the Telegram channel.
