The fight with Fury will take place on February 17 in Riyadh
WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight belt holder Alexander Usik commented on the upcoming fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion against the WBC title holder Tyson Fury.
“Every morning when I get up at five in the morning to go for a run, the first thing I think about is my country and my people,” Usyk said.
“I think about our people fighting on the front lines and the sacrifices they make for me and my family. After the fight I return to Ukraine. I love my people. I want to give them the joy of victory. I fight for the whole nation. Tyson Fury is fighting for himself.”
The Usyk-Fury fight will officially take place on February 17. The title of absolute heavyweight champion will be at stake. The event will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The special guest of the event will be Lennox Lewis.
The undercard of the Usyk-Fury fight will feature former IBF world cruiserweight champion Jay Opetaya, 19-year-old Moses Ithauma and IBF world super featherweight champion Joe Cordina.
Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
