Athletistic/Others. The Latvian government has adopted legislative amendments that formalize the ban on competitions between Latvian athletes and teams from Russia and Belarus. These restrictions came into effect on February 1. Now the organization of competitions with the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes on the territory of Latvia is unacceptable. Furthermore, Latvian teams are prohibited from playing with the mentioned teams on the territory of other states, even despite their neutral status.

This restriction applies to adult and youth teams.

The main motivation for the introduction of these legislative changes is the expression of solidarity with Ukraine and the desire to prevent the legalization of crimes in the field of sports in Russia.
