Valieva could not have known about positive doping test before start of Olympic team tournament – media

According to the first decision of the special chamber of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in a doping case Kamila Valieva the Russian figure skater could not have known about the positive doping test before the start of the team tournament of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, reports the Telegram channel of journalist Sergei Lisin “Naked Sport”.

Earlier, The Times reported that Valieva learned of a positive doping test on February 6, that is, the day of the women’s short program as part of the team championship at the Beijing Games, but the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) allowed Valieva to compete without imposing a temporary suspension.

— The data on what happened with the information regarding an adverse analytical finding was detailed in the CAS’s first-ever ad hoc decision, issued in Beijing. On February 7, the Stockholm laboratory uploaded a report on the analysis result of Valieva’s sample to the ADAMS system. On February 8, RUSADA, represented by Valeria German, informed Valieva, WADA, ITA and ISU about the start of the process of processing the results and the temporary suspension of the athlete from 11:36 a.m. time. Beijing (6:36 a.m. Moscow time).

So, on February 6, no one on the Russian side could know the result of the analysis of Valieva’s sample. Any speculation on this subject is baseless. The date the laboratory uploaded the sample information is reflected in the file downloaded from ADAMS; it cannot be modified or corrected, indicates the Naked Sport channel.

On Monday, the CAS suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The 17-year-old Russian’s suspension period begins on December 25, 2021, and her results have been canceled since that date.
