Athletistic/Figure skating. The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, has called for respect for the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the four-year disqualification of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva for violating anti-doping rules.

On January 29, the CAS issued a four-year disqualification of Valieva for violation of anti-doping rules and also annulled her results at the tournaments on December 25, 2021. As a result, the International Skating Union (ISU) revised the results of the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Olympics, awarding gold to the U.S. team and silver to the Japanese, with the Russian team moving from first to third place.

Bach stressed that while everyone has the right to criticize the court’s decision and have their own opinion, the decision must be fully respected.
