The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) may publish the full text of the decision on the Russian figure skater’s doping case Kamila Valieva until the end of next week, the CAS press service told .
On Monday, the CAS suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. In its statement, the court noted that Valieva was unable to provide convincing evidence demonstrating that the violation was unintentional. The 17-year-old athlete’s suspension period begins on December 25, 2021 and his results have been canceled since that date. The CAS decision led to a review of the results of the 2022 Olympic team tournament, where the Russian team won. First place is now awarded to the American team, the Japanese are second and the Russians will receive bronze. Valieva is also deprived of gold at the 2022 European Championship.
— An arbitral award rendered by a CAS panel is currently subject to confidentiality review, meaning that the parties may request that the award or certain information contained therein remain confidential. For this reason, the decision was not immediately published on the CAS website.
The verification will take several days, but it is possible that the decision – edited or complete – will be published by the end of next week, the court’s press service told .
