St. Petersburg police conduct search operations to apprehend man who attacked figure skater Dikiji

Police are searching for a man who threatened a Russian figure skating championship medalist with a knife. Vladislav Dikidji reports the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

On Friday, Dikiji, 19, said he was attacked in the subway and threatened with a knife. The athlete’s coach, Oleg Tataurov, told that Vladislav will be in training on Saturday and will not have any breaks in the attack.

— On February 2 around 7:30 p.m. in St. Petersburg, the police received a message from a citizen that, in a subway car, an unknown person had hit him on the head and asked him to sit down, making him threatening with a knife. The victim’s statement was taken.

The police are carrying out operational search activities to identify and arrest the attacker.

The question of initiating criminal proceedings is being decided,” the statement said.

Dikidzhi won a silver medal at the Russian Championship, which took place in December 2023 in Chelyabinsk. The skater also won two stages of the Russian Grand Prix, in Kazan and Moscow.
