“We won’t compete until they give us affordable options to compete in the Olympics” – Schleicher diver

Triple bronze medalist at the 2016 European Diving Championships Nikita Shleicher said he did not want to participate in international competitions without equal access conditions for athletes.

Russian divers refused to participate in the Paris Olympic Games in neutral status. Previously, the President of the Russian Diving Federation, Stanislav Druzhinin, wrote about it on his Telegram channel.

– Playing without an anthem, without a flag, we’ve already done it, it’s not the same. So I will follow diving at the Games, it’s a sport that I love. Wouldn’t that be hard to watch, knowing we could have been there? I can not do anything about it. I’m already used to what it’s like.

Of course, I would like to compete, to perform on the international stage, but until they give us affordable options, we will not be competitive. I’ve already let go of the Tokyo situation. I believe I will still be able to perform at the Olympics,” Schleicher said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.

The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
