Bronze medalist of the 1964 Olympics in diving Galina Alekseeva died at the age of 77, the head of the Russian Diving Federation Stanislav Druzhinin reported on the Telegram channel.
According to him, Alekseeva died after a long illness, no further details were specified.
“The Russian Diving Federation extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends,” the message said.
Alekseeva became third in platform diving at the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, and she also won three times in this discipline at the USSR Championship. After finishing her career, Alekseeva worked as a children’s coach.
