If another force majeure does not occur, the long-awaited fight will take place in Riyadh on May 18
Chairman of the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority Turks Al ash-Sheikh presented a special undisputed world champion belt in the heavyweight division.
It will be awarded to the winner of the long-awaited fight between the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO title holder Alexander Usik and WBC champion Tyson Furywhich is scheduled for May 18.
Let us remind you that the fight for the absolute title was supposed to take place in Riyadh on February 17. However, two weeks before the fight with Usyk, Fury was injured during sparring. He received a cut that required stitches, due to which Tyson will not have time to recover for the fight with Usyk. British cutman Jorge Capetillo suggested that the Gypsy King would need at least three months to recover.
Following this, the aforementioned Turki Al al-Sheikh announced that the boxing evening on February 17 in Riyadh has been canceled and purchased tickets will be refunded.
Penalties for boxers who refuse to fight are $10 million. At the same time, the contract for the fight between the Ukrainian and the British has a rematch clause.
