Formula 1 teams have agreed to change the sprint regulations for the 2024 season

The races are scheduled to take place on Saturday morning, after which qualifying for the main race will take place.

Teams Formula 1 agreed to change the regulations of the stages, which include sprint racing in the 2024 season. All previous sessions will be preserved, but their order will change.

Free practice will take place on Friday, followed by sprint qualifying. The sprint race itself will take place on Saturday morning. After this, qualification for the main race will take place, which, as before, is scheduled for Sunday.

The changes were agreed by the Formula 1 Commission and will have to be approved by the World Motor Sports Federation at a meeting on February 28. The teams believe that changing the order of the sessions will add entertainment to the sprint weekend. The main problem of the regulations that will need to be solved is the implementation of the “parc-ferme” rule, when teams are prohibited from making significant changes to the car settings after completing free practices.

Six Grands Prix with sprint races are planned for 2024. The new season starts in Bahrain on March 2.
