Figure skater Soloviev: “It is a great pleasure to participate in the Olympic Games at home”

Olympic ice dancing champion Dmitry Soloviev said that the opportunity to participate in the Olympic Games at home is a great happiness.

Soloviev, who played in tandem with Ekaterina Bobrova won the team tournament at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.

— How did the Olympic gold go for you?

“We participated in the Olympic Games at home – it’s a great happiness. This happens quite rarely. This Olympics is one of three that we have participated in. She was special in terms of her fullness of life and energy. Volunteers were ready to give their soul in any situation that arose. The gold we won in the team competition is special. Many Olympic souls have invested in this medal. I am proud of our country, of our team, which was truly golden. It rarely happens that everyone unites and strives for victory.

— When did you realize you were an Olympic champion?

“Awareness is different for everyone. It came to me in a month, maybe in two, maybe in a year. The realization came to me in waves. After the team tournament, we had a personal tournament in which we had to perform at a high level. We have internally pushed back our consciousness a little. After the awards ceremony, I had to concentrate, put on a protective field and return to the competition. The personal tournament took place a week later. We did not have the opportunity to leave our emotions behind us, they had to be with us,” reports the correspondent of , reporting Soloviev’s words.
