Dwight maintains a good relationship with the Ukrainian outside the football field
Winger Everton Dwight McNeil spoke about the relationship with the defender Vitaly Mykolenkoas well as the Ukrainian’s influence on the team’s performance.
“The mix is great. We sit next to each other in the dressing room – at Finch Farm, on matchdays, both home and away. He’s great. I really like him and we get along well. We have wonderful conversations. Now his English is really good, he speaks more and takes part in conversations, which is nice. He is a top man and you can see his quality as a player. He’s playing so well this season.”
“Defensively he was amazing, blocking, tackling and defending one-on-one and also getting forward effectively. He influences the game on both sides, defensively and offensively. I think we’re starting to build a good partnership and understanding with each other.”
“You only really understand it when you play with someone all the time. You learn more about each other without talking, it becomes natural. We understand this now. We know how each other likes to work and how we can help each other. It’s great to play with him.”
Mikolenko moved to Everton in January 2022. This season, the Ukrainian has played 24 matches for the Toffees in all competitions, scoring two goals.
Everton are 18th in the Premier League, one point off the top spot. In the next match, Mikolenko’s team will play away against Manchester City on February 10.
