Olympic marathon champion and 2014 Games relay silver medalist Alexander Legkov on he shared his first thoughts after the victory in Sochi, and also recalled the award ceremony at the closing of the competition.
During the 50 km race in Sochi, Russian skiers occupied the entire podium. Following Legkov to the finish line were Maxim Vylegzhanin and Ilya Chernousov.
“I thought I deserved a gold medal.” I thanked the universe and the fans. Only the lazy guy didn’t say it and didn’t want me to gain anything by stopping breaking poles and skis. Mutko ruffled my hair. I had two thoughts after arrival: the first was “Come on!” Did I really do that?”, and the second – “I won over my health and I will sleep peacefully all my life.”
I have never felt the emotions I felt at the end of the Games. I wish everyone a day when they can experience something like this. I will [такие эмоции] search all your life. The president is sitting, they are rewarding me, 50,000 people are watching. It was like a good stupidity! — said Legkov on .
The Sochi Winter Games took place from February 7 to 23, 2014.
