Valieva did not provide RUSADA with proof of the existence of her grandfather, who refused to communicate with the organization

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) during its own investigation into the doping case of a Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva could not contact his grandfather Gennady Solovyov.

On Wednesday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) published the reasons for Valieva’s appeal. During the investigation into the circumstances of the offense, the athlete claimed that the doping entered his body from a strawberry dessert prepared by his grandfather. She was 15 years old at the time of the events.

Gennady Solovyov is the father of Kamila’s mother’s former partner, but RUSADA notes in its CAS testimony that “there is no evidence from the athlete that Mr. Solovyov exists.” Previously, representatives of the organization attempted to contact the man as part of their investigation, but he was unable to contact him.

– … There was no possibility of communicating with the athlete’s grandfather. His representatives refused to provide him with contacts and to arrange an in-person meeting. G. Solovyov’s representative provided medical documents

and responded to survey questions via email. G. Soloviev did not provide him with any documentary evidence of the prescription of the drug Trimetazidine, says part of the RUSADA investigation published by CAS.

Previously, the CAS disqualified the skater for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The 17-year-old Russian’s suspension period begins on December 25, 2021, and her results have been canceled since that date.
