FINA has released the selection system for the 2024 Olympics, ‘closing’ it with the World Championships in Doha

The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has published a qualification system for participation in the 2024 Games in Paris.

In all water sports, the key starts for qualification will be the 2023 FINA World Championships in Fukuoka (Japan) and the FINA World Championships, to be held in February 2024 in Doha. This is the last start at which athletes can meet the selection requirements.

In addition, the European Championships will be included in the selection system in diving (individual), synchronized swimming (pairs and groups) and water polo.

Swimmers will be selected in relay races at two World Championships, individual selection, as before, will take place according to the met standard, including national starts.

Thus, compared to qualification for the Tokyo Games, open water swimming and synchronized swimming will not qualify via the European Cup and a special qualifying tournament. In diving, the World Cup will also have no qualifying value.
