RUSADA, after the Valieva doping case, reminded that only the organizers of the Czech Republic are responsible for isolating the premises from unauthorized persons

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) does not have the authority to make recommendations to tournament organizers that do not concern the conditions and procedure of anti-doping control, the agency’s press service told .

Previously, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had disqualified Valiev for four years for violation of anti-doping rules and canceled his results in competitions from December 25, 2021. According to the reasoning of the CAS decision, it became known that the Russian figure skater presented three versions of how the banned substance, trimetazidine, could have entered the athlete’s body. One of the versions refers to the “not very good organization of the premises” in the Chechen Republic in St. Petersburg, where there were “full of foreigners”.

— Will RUSADA give additional recommendations to federations on organizing tournaments in order to stop the “passing court”, as was the case during the Russian Championship in St. Petersburg?

— This is the area of responsibility of the competition organizers. RUSADA does not have the authority to make recommendations in any area that does not concern the conditions and procedure of doping control. Recommendations for the organization of the doping control zone are published on the RUSADA website, the RUSADA press service told .

Valieva passed a positive doping test on the day of the free program at the Russian Championship. The athlete was accused of violating anti-doping rules in February, while competing in the Olympics.
