“We would like to dedicate the victory to my late grandmother” – figure skater Makhnonosov, who won gold among the Czech Republic’s juniors, dancing with Rybakova

Figure skater Ivan Makhnonosov performing ice dancing in tandem with Ekaterina Rybakova said he wanted to dedicate the victory at the Russian junior championship to his deceased grandmother.

On Thursday, at the Russian Junior Championships in Saransk, the duo scored 186.40 points in two programs and won gold medals.

— There is fatigue, we have prepared a lot. This is our fifth participation in the Russian Championship and three of them took place in Saransk. For us, this is one of the stages of our journey, long and interesting. The coaches will be able to guide us,” reports the correspondent, according to Rybakova’s words.

– It’s no surprise, we naturally improved certain aspects, invested in emotions, and we are now reaping the benefits. Behind it is a sea of sweat, a lot of tears, hours on the ice, in the gym, in general physical training. We approach adult competitions with wonderful emotions. We would like to dedicate the victory to my late grandmother. Unfortunately, she left our world,” reports the correspondent, according to Makhnonosov’s words.
