Ukrainian epee fencers for the first time in 9 years did not reach the 1/8 finals of the World Championship

Saber fencers also completed the competition in the 1/16 finals

Ukrainian epee fencers couldn’t get into 1/8 finals of the World Cup fencing, which takes place in Cairo (Egypt). Also, at the stage of the 1/16 finals, representatives of the male saber.

Three Ukrainians qualified for the main draw of the épée competition and overcame the first round. However, in the future, everyone began to have problems. European champion Vlada Kharkova lost to two-time world champion Italian Rossella Fiamingo (9:15).

The 2012 Olympic champion Yana Shemyakina lost to Nelli Differt from Estonia with the same score. And Julia Svistil did not cope with the Korean Son Se Ra (10:15).

In the saber competitions, Andrey Yagodka and Yuriy Tsap in the 1/16 finals lost to two Olympic champions in team competitions as part of the Korean team. Yagodka lost to Oh San Wook (2:15), and Tsap lost to Kim Jun Ho (12:15).

Another Ukrainian Vasily Humen was eliminated in the first round, losing to Musa Aimuratov from Uzbekistan (13:15).

For the first time since 2013, Ukraine will not be represented in the 1/8 finals of individual epee competitions.

On Tuesday, the World Championship will continue with competitions in the women’s foil and men’s epee.
