The ex-mentor of the blue-yellows assessed the results of the draw
Head coach of Karpaty and former mentor Ukrainian national team Miron Markevich assessed the results of the draw Nations League 2024/25.
“Yes, it’s a normal draw, with all teams you need to not only play, but also win. The lot was good, it could have been worse. The Nations League is an interesting tournament. We need to win our division and move up.”
“Well, why not? We have a good team, young and promising. There are a large number of needed players. So, I think you need to fight for first place and that’s it.
“New faces in the team – this is probably more a question for the national team coaches. But our adult and youth teams are very good. We are going to the Olympics, the U-21 team is in first place in its group. We have a lot of positive things right now. You just have to use it.”
“All teams have been progressing lately. And the national team of Albania and Georgia are now completely different teams. Well, the Czechs are one of the favorites of the group. Well, but I say again that the Ukrainian team is now on the move, that’s why we need to fight for first place in the group.”
“And the Albanians are now a difficult opponent, the Georgians can also show themselves brightly. But I think that the Ukrainian team should ultimately take first place.”
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian national team will play in Group 1 of Division B. The blue-yellows’ opponents are the Czech Republic, Albania and Georgia.
Sergei Rebrov’s team will play their first match on September 7 against Albania. Ukraine will complete the group stage with an away match against the same Albanians on November 19.
