Olympic short track speed skating champion Semyon Elistratov wished strength to the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva in a situation with a four-year suspension.
At the end of January, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The 17-year-old Russian’s suspension period begins on December 25, 2021, and her results have been canceled since that date.
“When I read it, I cried like a man.” Four years for a young girl! Hard. Sincerely, I wish him and his entire team, Eteri Georgievna (Tutberidze), the strength to come out of this situation with dignity. God forbid you find yourself in such a situation. When I encountered this, I fully realized that 99% of you are practically helpless,” Elistratov told .
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) acquitted Elistratov of the discovery of meldonium in his body and all charges against him were dropped.
