Ilya Malinin recognized as the most valuable skater at the ISU Skating Awards

American representative Ilya Malinin was named the most valuable skater at the 2024 ISU Skating Awards, the ISU press service reports.

Other nominees for the award were dance duo Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA), Luna Hendrix (Belgium), sports couple Riku Miura/Ryuichi Kihara (Japan), Kaori Sakamoto (Japan), Shoma Uno (Japan ) and Adam Xiao Him Fa. (France) ).

Malinin was born in the United States to the family of figure skaters Tatyana Malinina and Roman Skornyakov, who competed internationally for Uzbekistan. This season, Malinin won the ISU Grand Prix Final; last year he won bronze at the World Championships and won the United States Championships.

Russian and Belarusian figure skaters have been suspended by the ISU from participating in international tournaments since March 2022.
