The life of the second basketball player, Artem Kozachenko, is not in danger
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced the arrest of one of the killers of a Ukrainian basketball player Vladimir Ermakov. The identity of the detainee has not yet been revealed, as well as the motive for the attack.
“The Consulate General in Düsseldorf has already held negotiations with the chief of police of the city of Essen. The consuls noted the need for a speedy investigation and bringing the criminal to justice. According to available information, the police have already detained the attacker. Investigations are ongoing.”
At the same time, the health of another Ukrainian, Artem Kozachenko, improved and stabilized. He is now receiving all the necessary medical care at a hospital in Essen.
Today it became known about the tragic death of 17-year-old Ukrainian basketball player Vladimir Ermakov. He, along with Kozachenko, played for the ART Giants youth team from Dusseldorf. On the eve of the next championship game, an armed attack was carried out on Ukrainian basketball players.
Local media reported that the cause of the conflict was the nationality of Kozachenko and Ermakov. Both players were hospitalized, but doctors were unable to save Ermakov’s life.
Vladimir Ermakov played as a member of the Ukrainian U-16 youth team. As part of the blue-yellow team, the player took part in the 2022 European Championship in Bulgaria.
