Figure skater Valery Kolesov During a conversation with , he discussed a possible coaching career, saying he wanted to work with the younger generation.

Tamara Moskvina, honored figure skating coach of Russia, announced on Monday that the sports couple Yasmina Kadyrova and Valery Kolesov had broken up. Later, the 23-year-old skater told that he was ending his sports career.

– How is your health ?

— For ordinary life, my health is fine.

— Have you focused on your studies now?

– Yes, and for studies too. Anyway, in the near future life will be connected with figure skating, but certainly not as an athlete. And that’s how I communicate with different people. I see who does what. I haven’t yet figured out what else interests me.

— Have you ever thought about working as a coach? Make tackles?

I once tried to train a group of guys in Moscow for a week. I loved it and I know they did too. I haven’t thought about coaching yet, but I realized I had something to bring to the new generation. Their eyes were so bright with the result! I remember myself like this and I understand: this one will succeed, this one is unlikely, but you need to find an approach, this one is lazy, but talented. Something like that.

Sometimes I make tackles with a girl. She’s an amateur and recently won a competition in St. Petersburg, which I didn’t expect, since she’s only been skating for three months. We will continue working, maybe someone else will want to do it. I don’t focus on this work, but I don’t refuse,” Kolesov told .

Kadyrova and Kolesov have been paired together since the 2022/23 season. This season, they took third place at the Russian Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk and posted their seventh result at the Russian Championship.
