IIHF extended the ban for the Russian and Belarusian hockey teams for the 2024/25 season

Thus, Belarus will not participate in the final round of the 2026 Olympic Games, where it was in the same group with Ukraine

Advice International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) officially extended the suspension of Russia and Belarus from participation in international competitions for the 2024/25 season.

During the reporting period, the national teams of the terrorist country and the aggressor-supporting country will not be able to take part in official hockey tournaments. Thus, the Belarusian team will not take part in the final round of selection for Olympics 2026. It was previously assigned to group D, to the national teams Slovakia And Ukraine.

The IIHF has extended the already regular ban, which was previously valid until the end of the 2023/24 season. The next time the issue of admitting Russia and Belarus to international hockey will be considered only in May 2025.

Let us remind you that on February 11, the Ukrainian national team made it to the final round of Olympic qualification, the matches of which will take place in late August – early September 2024. The blue-and-yellows won all three matches of the pre-qualifying tournament and finished in first place in Group J.
