— I always believe in my students and I never make assumptions about places. I want the athlete to show his maximum. Let the judges decide where and who to put.

I am satisfied with the result. Yes, the maximum level could not be demonstrated for objective reasons. After a day or two, we withdrew from the show jumping tournament because Vanya (Ramzenkov) injured his shoulder performing a quad Lutz. A slight sprain prevented him from working on jumps and pirouettes; he could only slide. I decided to give the guy a rest.

We began to fully prepare shortly before the start of the Russian Championship. As a coach, I realized that there was not enough time for a quality result. I had to rely on the character of the athlete. Ramzenkov is a boy with a strong character, everything didn’t go well, but in any case, I’m happy that he fought. For me, that was the most important thing. The god of sport was on our side. Being in the top 3 is very prestigious.

— Aren’t you thinking about the final place, so as not to get upset later?

– What’s the point of making a wish? Everything can happen. You yourself saw how the storyline developed, but everything turned in our direction. The ice is slippery, you can be perfectly prepared, but something will go wrong.

Of course, a bad soldier is one who doesn’t want to become a general. We all want the best results, but above all, I set myself the task of showing my maximum quality.

— Are you satisfied with your second tournament participant, Timofey Shelkovnikov?

“They told him twice that he would leave, but then everything changed. There was a lottery, but ultimately I made it to the championship. Every time I told him that he would go, and then they gave me other information… Timofey, of course, was offended by this. But he courageously resisted what was happening. Well done today – he showed his best. He has room to grow and develop. “I’m happy with him,” Davydenko told .

The tournament took place from February 6 to 8 in Saransk.
