2020 Olympic Games bronze medalist fencer Igor Reyzlin won the first medal for Ukraine at the 2022 Fencing World Championship, which takes place in Cairo these days.
In the semi-finals, the Ukrainian athlete met reigning Olympic champion in the team and two-time bronze medalist of the Asian Championships in the individual championship Japanese Kazuyasu Minobe.
Rivals finished the main time with an equal mark – 12:12, and the decisive injection was made by the Japanese, who won.
On the way to the semifinals, Reislin defeated Roman Alexandrov from Uzbekistan – 12: 9, Tristan Thulen from the Netherlands – 13:12, Mate Tamas Koch from Hungary – 15:10 and Fon Hoi Sun from Hong Kong – 14 : 13.
