Figure skater Alexandra Prokopets performing in ice dancing in tandem with Alexander Vaskovich, said that they were ready to replace the duet Ekaterina Mironova / Evgeniy Ustenko, but were refused.
On Wednesday, the St. Petersburg Figure Skating Federation announced that Mironova and Ustenko would not participate in the Spartakiad of the Strongest due to their partner’s health. The Prokopets/Vaskovich pair were the second reserves. Earlier, Sofia Kachushkina told that her duet with Mark Volkov would not perform at Spartakiad instead of Mironova/Ustenko.
“That’s how everything is fair with us.” We worked, prepared, skated in hopes of going if someone took off. We are the second reserve and in theory we should go. We are ready to come now or tomorrow. But we were told it was already “too late,” Prokopets wrote on ’s social media.
According to the competition rules, no more than 10 duets will participate in ice dancing. The preliminary list of participants includes 9 couples, not including Mironova and Ustenko.
The figure skating tournament as part of the Spartakiad will be held in Magnitogorsk from February 16 to 18.
