Anna Kolomenskaya and Artyom Frolov, silver medalists of the Russian ice dancing championship, said that they almost never conflict during training.
At the Russian Junior Championships in Saransk, the duo scored 180.7 points for two programs and won silver.
Artem: We communicate well, we have no misunderstandings. Let’s say Anya can tell me something about the program where she feels uncomfortable, I’ll listen to her and we’ll change something. And the same from me. Sometimes there can be breakdowns, like before the last championship. But then I had a breakdown, I had a kind of fatigue, apparently due to the fact that I had dug myself into some kind of hole. It was like I woke up in the morning and I was already tired. Damn, I went to bed at 10, I should be in a good mood! And I go out, I eat something and it’s hard for me. I didn’t understand what was happening, and I was having breakdowns myself. Not at all for Anya.
Anna: We never had any direct conflicts. We constantly discuss and argue about everything. If something isn’t working, we just tell ourselves and decide how we’re going to fix it. We are both not in conflict.
Artem: Yes, it’s difficult to get started. I can only blame myself, but then it becomes easier for me. Emotions ran high, you got a little aggressive and there you go, you’re tired and you realize you don’t have to do this anymore. Then two days will pass and more (laughs). And so, I am not particularly angry, we work quite well,” the skaters told the “Championship”.
