Ukrainian Konotop became the absolute European champion in weightlifting

Camila won this title for the third time in her career and defended last year’s title

Ukrainian Kamila Konotop became the absolute champion European Weightlifting Championships 2024which takes place in Sofia (Bulgaria).

The athlete in the category up to 59 kilograms became first in the snatch, clean and jerk and in the combined event. In the first discipline, she lifted 105 kg – four more than her closest pursuer. In the clean and jerk, Kamila achieved a weight of 125 kilograms – this is the third result in her career.

As a result, Konotop, with a score of 230 kg in the double-event total, was 15 kilograms ahead of the Frenchwoman Dora Chakunte in the overall standings. Sara Retulainen from Finland took third, winning silver in the clean and jerk.

The Ukrainian defended the title of absolute champion of the continent, which she won in April 2023 in Yerevan. At the same time, she also set three continental records.

For the first time, Konotop became the absolute champion of the adult European Championship in 2021. Thus, today’s success is the third in her career.

Let us remind you that earlier at the 2024 European Championships in Sofia the Ukrainian Pavel Zalipsky won the silver medal. The European Championship in Bulgaria takes place from February 12 to 20 at the Armeets sports arena.
