The organizers of the Ruta del Sol cycling race in Andalusia (Spain) have decided to postpone the start of the competition due to protests from the country’s farmers, reports Marca.
Initially, the start of the race was to take place on February 14, but due to strikes it was postponed to February 16.
Additionally, the organizers partially changed the race route and reduced it to three stages.
Farmers’ protests began in Spain on February 6. They are trying to draw the authorities’ attention to the difficult situation in the sector, demanding changes in European agricultural policy, establishing fair prices for their products and improving working conditions.
