Ukrainians Filipovich, Sova-Rizhko and Shustova won silver medals at the 2024 European Wrestling Championships

Successful medal start at the Euro for the Ukrainian women’s team

Women’s team Ukraine in freestyle wrestling she won three silver medals at once European Championship 2024, which takes place in Bucharest, Romania. Awards in stock Alina Filipovich, Tatiana Sovy-Rizhko And Anastasia Shustova.

Filipovic (up to 59 kg) lost to three-time Euro bronze medalist Alena Kolesnik, representing Azerbaijan.

Two more Ukrainians lost their bouts to titled representatives of Turkey. Sova-Rizhko (up to 68 kg) was defeated by the current world champion Buse Tosun, and in a duel with Shustova (up to 76 kg), the European champion title was defended by Yasemin Adar.

Let us remind you that earlier at the 2024 European Championship the Ukrainian men’s team won four medals in Greco-Roman wrestling. Alexander Grushin won the silver award (after which he refused to take a joint photo with the “neutral” athlete Anvar Allahyarov), Zhan Belenyuk won his “bronze” final, as did later Parviz Nasibov and Yaroslav Filchakov.

The European Wrestling Championship takes place from February 12 to 18, and 30 sets of awards are awarded. Tomorrow, February 16, two more finals in women’s freestyle wrestling will take place. In one of them, Irina Kolyadenko claims a gold medal.
