“The emotions from the excursion to the Magnitogorsk steel plants are cool” – figure skater Vetlugin

Matvey Vetlugin said he felt a range of emotions during the excursion to the Magnitogorsk Steel Plant, which took place before the start of the figure skating tournament at the Spartakiad of the Strongest.

At the Spartakiad of the Strongest, Vetlugin received 96.07 points for the short program, taking fifth place. The men will present their free program on February 17.

“It was focused, conscious and fun. I had a feeling at the start of the rental, I’m happy, really. During the draw, we were asked to try to skate in such a way that the viewer would fall in love with another form of ice skating and start sending their children to figure skating. This is our social task.

— How long has the quadruple lutz been in your program? Is this a surprise or were you preparing?

“We were preparing, but it’s the first time in this form.” But we had about a week to prepare it.

—How did you prepare? A very busy schedule with such a flight.

— I asked for some rest yesterday. There was also an excursion to the Magnitogorsk metallurgical plant, which gave me great emotions. Yesterday was a busy day, but without training,” reports the correspondent, according to Vetlugin.

Figure skating competitions within the framework of the Spartakiad of the Strongest will take place in Magnitogorsk from February 16 to 18.
