Ivan Bukin: “We didn’t bet much on this season, because we immediately understood that it would be restorative”

Ivan Boukine do ice dancing with Alexandra Stepanova said the duo did not have high hopes for the current season.

Bukin and Stepanova won the Russian championship at the All-Russian Spartakiad in the 2023/24 season and won two stages of the Russian Grand Prix.

— In general, we are satisfied with everything. But physically the season was not easy, as we were recovering, getting back into shape and of course there were some illnesses. Probably, the only thing I would like to improve is to improve my health, this sometimes undermined us, at the most necessary moment I fell ill. And so, this year we prepared systematically,” Stepanova said at the Championship.

I’ll tell you how it is: we didn’t put much into it this season, because it was immediately clear to us that it would be a season of recovery, of getting back into shape. In principle, we can say that it coincided with our expectations, there were no extreme moments. But we will approach next season differently, because we will prepare more seriously, we will have more time. Plus, we now have some physical fitness that we can rely on,” Bukin noted.
