Denisov: The Polesie stadium will be able to accommodate about 1,500 fans. All money from ticket sales will go to the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The Zhytomyr team will play UPL home matches with spectators, funds will be transferred to the needs of the 132nd separate reconnaissance battalion of the DShV

Director of Media, Marketing and Sponsorship FC Polesie Alexander Denisov announced the presence of spectators in the stands at home matches of the Zhytomyr club, and at the same time told how many fans would be able to attend the matches and where the proceeds from ticket sales would go.

“Now we can say that the stadium can accommodate about 1,500 fans. This, of course, is not the number that we wanted and counted on, we would like to see full stands, and this is 6,500 fans.”

“Why we have the number 1500 can be explained very simply. Each club that decides that fans will be in its stands decides the issue from the point of view of how many bomb shelters around the stadium within a radius of 500-700 meters, no more. The club has held and is still negotiating with institutions that have licensed bomb shelters, and not just basements, with which contracts are signed and which are ready and able to receive fans.”

“Actually, this number – 1,500 – allows us to begin a program of selling tickets and inviting fans to the stands.”

“In war conditions, the position of the club president is very clear and clear. We believe that those fans who will come to support the team in the stands will at the same time help our Armed Forces in the fight for the independence of Ukraine. The position is clear: all money from ticket sales will be directed to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Moreover, negotiations have already been held with the BGV Charity foundation, and we already understand where exactly the money will go. We won’t just donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but the money will be directed to a specific unit: the 132nd separate reconnaissance battalion of the Air Assault Forces. It is this division that we, together with the fans, will support. That’s why the club doesn’t take a penny as an asset; all the money goes there: if you go to football, you donate to DShV.”

Let us remind you that Rivne Veres announced earlier that fans would be allowed into the stands in the coming year.

The last official football match with spectators today took place in Ukraine on December 12, 2021. 1,714 spectators, according to UPL data, saw Kolos’s strong-willed victory over Minai (2:1, both goals were scored by the Kovalevites in the last minutes) in the final match of the first part of the 2021/2022 season.

Polesie’s home arena is the Central City Stadium in Zhitomir. Its official capacity, according to UPL data, is 5928 spectators. During the current season, spectators attended matches of the Zhytomyr club, for which the latter was fined.

The team, coached by Yuri Kalitvintsev, takes third place in the UPL, two points behind leaders Krivbass and Dnepr-1. Polesie’s next official match in the 18th round will be away against Rukh on February 25.
