Elina remained the only Ukrainian in the singles competition
Elina Svitolina won the Ukrainian confrontation against Angelina Kalinina in the first round of the tournament WTA 1000which passes into Dubai (UAE).
The fight lasted one hour and 41 minutes. On her opponent’s first serve, Svitolina made a break, which allowed her to win the set. Kalinina had the opportunity to win the second game, but missed a double set point with the score 5:4. It came to a tiebreaker, where the first racket of Ukraine was stronger – 9:7.
In the second round, Elina will face Tatiana Maria from Germany.
Svitolina, who finishes the top 20 in the world rankings, remained the only Ukrainian at the singles tournament. Let us remind you that earlier in Dubai, Lesya Tsurenko and Marta Kostyuk withdrew due to health problems, and Dayana Yastremskaya lost to Veronica Kudermetova.
In doubles, Lyudmila Kichenok continues to perform in a duet with Elena Ostapenko from Latvia.
