Mentor of the women’s national team – about the personnel situation in the team, logistics and opponents in the Nations League playoff matches
Women’s head coach Ukrainian national team Vladimir Pyatenko spoke about preparations for fights with Bulgarian national team in the playoffs Division B of the League of Nations.
“Unfortunately, due to injuries received in the test matches, we will not be able to count on Yana Kalinina, Nadezhda Kunina, Victoria Girin. They were replaced by Yana Malakhova, Elizaveta Molodyuk and Anastasia Voronina.”
“First we will fly to Istanbul, from where we will travel 380 kilometers by bus to the Bulgarian city of Kardzhali. And on February 24, we will return to Antalya along the same route, where the return match will take place.”
“The backbone of this team [Болгарии] consists of foreign players, most of whom perform in Switzerland, Austria, and Romania. Mostly the Bulgarians act as number two, trying with long passes to find Simone Petkova from Swiss Aarau, who is at the forefront of the attack. We had the opportunity to study the game of the Bulgarian team in detail, and now the main thing is to show our best qualities on the football field.”
Let us remind you that Ukraine took third place in its Nations League group in Division B. Pyatenko’s team avoided direct relegation to Division C, but will compete to maintain its position with the Bulgarian team.
The other day, the coaching staff of the women’s team announced the application for the playoff matches, which included 23 players. The blue-yellows will play their first match in Bulgaria on February 23. The return match, which will be nominally “home” for Pyatenko’s team, will take place on February 27 in Antalya, Turkey.
