Three-time Olympic cross-country ski champion Alexander Bolshunov declared that he would not participate in international competitions in neutral status.
Russian skiers have been suspended from competitions under the auspices of the International Ski Federation (FIS) due to the situation in Ukraine.
— Are you ready to play in a neutral status, as for example tennis players do now?
— I don’t know about tennis players, but the subject of neutral status can be omitted and not mentioned. In other words, these are not the current conditions.
“Are you ready with just the flag and the anthem?”
—If you go, everything is fine. Why should our athletes be disadvantaged in every direction? Everyone comes, everything is fine with them, they can afford everything, their souls do not suffer. In our case, there are a lot of questions,” reports the correspondent.
Bolshunov is a three-time Olympic champion, world championship winner and two-time World Cup winner. This season, the 27-year-old skier has won every individual race, with 21 consecutive victories.
