The coach will remain at the head of the national team until the 2026 World Cup
Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) activated the contract extension clause with the head coach of the national team Luis de la Fuente. The coach will continue to lead the Spanish national team until the 2026 World Cup.
De la Fuente has been at the helm of Furia Roja since December 2022. The coach replaced Luis Enrique, who left the team after losing to Morocco in a penalty shootout at the World Cup in Qatar.
Under the leadership of De la Fuente, the Spanish national team confidently won the qualifying group for Euro 2024, winning seven matches and losing one. In the summer of 2023, Furia Roja won the Nations League, beating Croatia in the final after a penalty shootout.
At Euro 2024, Spain will compete in Group B with Italy, Croatia and Albania. Furia Roja’s first opponent will be the Croats, the match will take place on June 15.
